Genuine VW/Audi turbocharger outlet exhaust gasket, part number 1K0-253-115-AB. This gasket seals the joint between the matching turbocharger outlet and catalytic-converter inlet pipe. A sound seal keeps exhaust gas within the intended passage at a joint exposed to heat and repeated thermal cycling.

Technical details

  • Original part number: 1K0-253-115-AB / 1K0253115AB.
  • Documented replacement for 1K0-253-115-K / 1K0253115K.
  • The product photo shows the central sealing opening, raised sealing profile and four attachment openings.
  • Supplied as one gasket. The turbocharger, catalytic converter, exhaust pipe and mounting hardware are separate.
  • Intended for the specified factory outlet flange. Aftermarket turbos and downpipes can require a different gasket.

Common reasons to replace

Fit a new gasket when the matching turbocharger-to-converter joint is separated for service. Heat exposure, damage during removal or an unevenly clamped joint can leave the previous gasket unable to seal properly.

A ticking or blowing noise at the joint, soot around the flange or an exhaust odor warrants inspection for leakage. These signs can also result from loose hardware, a cracked pipe or a damaged flange. Check the complete connection before choosing parts. A leak near oxygen-sensor locations can affect the gas reaching the sensors, so diagnosis should establish the actual source.

Installation and service notes

Allow the exhaust assembly to cool before service and support the pipe assembly so its weight does not pull against the turbocharger flange. Remove the old gasket, inspect both mating surfaces and address cracks, distortion or damaged fasteners.

Align the new gasket and pipe without forcing the joint together. Use the vehicle's required replacement hardware and tightening sequence, following the factory specification for that engine and flange. Check support brackets and hangers for strain or poor alignment. After reassembly, verify that the joint is sealed and that the exhaust has clearance from nearby components.
