Built from over a decade of proven success with the PLM AMG cooling lineup, the XL Heat Exchanger takes performance even further with a core that is 25% larger than the standard version. The increased capacity provides greater resistance to heat soak and improved temperature stability for modified or aggressively driven vehicles.

Supercharged 5.5L AMG cars are well known for rising intake air temperatures, especially in hot climates, during repeated pulls, or after raising boost levels. Once temperatures climb, the ECU reduces timing and power. The PLM Power Driven XL system is engineered to combat that issue, helping your vehicle maintain consistent horsepower and throttle response.

Despite the larger size, the unit is designed to mount in the factory location. The furnace-brazed core design provides superior strength and heat transfer compared to epoxied alternatives, while CNC-machined billet aluminum necks and precision welds ensure durability and leak-free operation.

With greater fluid volume and surface area, the XL version is ideal for owners running upgraded pulleys, tunes, or those who demand maximum cooling efficiency from their setup.

Installation Notes

The brackets are designed for direct bolt-on installation to the E55. CLS55 and SL55 models require drilling two additional holes in the brackets. The vehicle itself remains unmodified.

For SL55 applications, one hose connection is on the driver side and a longer hose is required. Select the SL55 option when ordering and the correct hose will be supplied.

Cooling System Upgrade Opportunity

Because the front bumper is removed during installation, many owners choose to upgrade further at the same time with the PLM cooling package that adds a higher-flow pump and coolant additive to maximize temperature control.
