SMG 2008+ GM Full-Size Truck & SUV Auxiliary Fuel System
SMG’s auxiliary fuel system adds the low-side fuel volume required when the factory system becomes the limiting factor in a boosted or high-output naturally aspirated GM truck or SUV. The system integrates in-line with the factory fuel supply and uses a simple, serviceable pressure-triggered control instead of a sealed proprietary controller.
This is a semi-universal platform kit covering multiple generations of GM full-size trucks and SUVs. The core system is consistent, while mounting position and hose routing can vary by chassis, wheelbase and model year.
Vehicle Families
- 2008+ Chevrolet Silverado 1500
- 2008+ Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban
- 2008+ GMC Sierra 1500
- 2008+ GMC Yukon and Yukon XL
- 2008+ Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV
Light-duty/full-size applications only. This kit is not intended for Silverado or Sierra 2500HD/3500HD applications.
Why Choose the SMG System?
- Serviceable Hobbs-switch activation with no hard-to-source proprietary controller
- Genuine Walbro in-line fuel pump
- Standard Output and High Output pump options
- Gasoline and ethanol-compatible construction
- Double-braided, PTFE-based fuel hose assemblies
- Anodized aluminum fittings and weather-resistant electrical connections
- Assembled and tested by SMG before shipment
Selecting Trigger Pressure and Pump Output
Choose a 2 psi, 4 psi or 7 psi pressure switch for boosted applications. The 4 psi option is the most common starting point, but the correct trigger point depends on the calibration, fuel, power level and complete fuel-system configuration. Confirm the selection with the vehicle’s tuner before ordering.
Choose Standard Output for established street and moderate-power combinations, or High Output when the build requires additional low-side fuel capacity. Pump selection must be matched to the full combination by the tuner or engine builder.
Naturally aspirated applications require a suitable non-boost activation strategy, additional parts or custom wiring.
Installation Requirements
- Professional fuel-system and electrical installation is strongly recommended
- Factory fuel-tank drilling and tapping are required
- Requires a 3/8-inch NPT tap and 37/64-inch drill bit, not included
- Mounting location and hose routing vary by vehicle
- ECU calibration is required after installation
Tuning Requirement
A professional tune is required. The auxiliary pump substantially changes available fuel volume. The factory control strategy must be recalibrated for the chosen pump, activation point, fuel and power level. SMG does not provide vehicle-specific tuning instructions.
Build Time
SMG auxiliary fuel systems are assembled to order. Allow approximately 3–5 business days before shipment, subject to production queue and component availability.
Warranty and Installation Support
The SMG lifetime warranty applies to systems installed by a verifiable commercial installer. DIY installation is permitted, but installation support and coverage for damage caused by wiring, plumbing, contamination, misuse or improper installation are not included. Every system is assembled and tested before leaving SMG.
This is a high-performance aftermarket fuel system. Installation modifies the vehicle’s fuel and electrical systems. The installer and vehicle owner are responsible for safe installation, calibration and compliance with applicable laws.
